This event was run by Alan Simmons who was situated in Buckland Woods near Tring.
Six teams were at the start (two new to evening DFs). Your scribe had lent one spare
set to new team and then lent other set to S Stone as his set went on blink.
When transmission came on (was fair signal), I was unable to hear it as my set decided
to go deaf, so with a bearing heading given to me, I raced off to the Risborough area
where at 8 pm I heard the Tx signal. After much driving up and down very narrow lanes
with trees blown down and a serious threat of heavy rain, I came across a new team member
(Chris Friel) who appeared to be in full control of where he was going to, so left
him to finish. On driving up road found two DF cars and so left my vehicle there and ran
into woods (lovely bluebells), eventually running into a pond-type area, which Alan was
situated on the corner of, with a aerial with counterpoise which made it quite hard to
pin down. Three teams eventually found Tx but new team Chris Friel got into the woods
but forgot it still got dark (no torch). A good natter was held at the Swan pub at Lea.
