Collier Cup 2003 Round 6

05 September 2003

Seven teams started this last Oxford event for 2003. The signal was quite weak at the start but audible. Most teams headed for the Abingdon area where the 8 pm signal was much stronger and those with good bearings got a cross through a National Trust wood in a small hamlet northwest of Abingdon. Alan Simmons was first to arrive on scene (found Peter Bradley's car in pub car park). All other teams appeared to take more time in finding the location so when the likes of myself, Bill Pechey and Steve Stone arrived, Alan was hiding away so to gain valuable points against the rest of us.

The site was on the edge of the official trust area and, in darkness, was a bit tricky to find with various peat bogs, reed beds and a wet stream to boot. All but one team member managed to find the Tx location in the given time. Mark arrived at 21:31:05 (tough).

My thanks to Peter Bradley for giving his time up this season for the few who attended these events.
