Six teams arrived at the start, including Graham Phillips, who made a welcome return after a broken arm. Keith Holden made a guest appearance. Steve Stone kindly stood in to run the event at the last minute.
The signal was audible at the start with a drift of skywave bearings circa 12 degrees. Most teams plotted bearings onto the Aylesbury map and at the 8pm signal it proved to go through the Little Missenden area, to my suprise not as strong as where the Tx actually was. I (my excuse) had given my friend Richard the job of plotting bearings, reading the map and actually trying to locate the Tx on his own receiver. It appeared after several wrong turns in the road he was actually feeling quite sick.
We arrived at the eastern approach of a wooded plantation only to find most teams had arrived, found the station and then gone to the pub. Steve was hidden in the plantation about 1km from Little Missenden, from where he had walked.
All teams eventually found Steve and then had a good laugh back at the pub in Little Missenden.
