Seven teams braved the hottest evening DF so far with Steve Stone on the Tx. A fairly weak signal was received by all at the start giving most teams (but not all) a bearing of circa 13 degrees which headed towards Prestwood on the Aylesbury map. With teams charging up the bypass towards High Wycombe we noticed that we were the only team to drive onto the M40 up to Beaconsfield, which gave us a great position at the 8pm signal to get a true cross to where Steve was hiding. (well that's what we thought). In fact, the signal appeared weaker giving us a bearing towards Chesham, by 8:15 we arrived past Chesham only to find Steve's signal almost gone with a sense going back towards Prestwood. Two more transmissions later, we finally decided to run into a wood just above Great Missenden, where we found Mrs D Pechey walking and searching for her beloved Bill. With the next transmission on, it took us out of one wood across a field and into another which, thankfully, the DF set took us into without too much trouble, only to find we were sixth.
Peter Lisle won this event in a very impressive time of 8:49. Also the return of the lovable rogue Mr R. Shepherd who competed with his "new" prototype DF set (not made of rubber) who also beat us.
My thanks to Steve for his efforts.
