Ten teams gathered at Coombe Hill, just south of Wendover on OS map 165, on a mild damp day. Two good signals were heard. Station A (G4MDF), run by Peter Bradley, was located on Lodge Hill some 6 miles SW of the start. This site proved to be more difficult to pin down than was planned.
Station B (G4XWP, Colin Boyce) was some 10 miles NNE of the start at a small hamlet called Grove near Leighton Buzzard. The Tx was situated on a small footpath adjacent to a disused sand pit, the operator hidden inside a hollow tree. Three teams found this station before 1430, which was very good and not expected. The eventual winner, Andrew Mead, at last achieved his goal of winning this trophy. Geoff Foster was a close second.
Teas were held at the Dashwood Arms and enjoyed by all.
