2014 Gage-Tyler Cup Round 1

19 March 2014

A Note from the Winner

A good event for the season starter. Good signal at the start, even though some people reported sky wave I didn't have any at all and plotted 75, which passed about 200m from John's location. Went my normal route via the M40 and stopped on the Hedgerley road just by the motorway. A bearing of 185 was a bit out but pointed me at the south of Brockhurst wood. Took a wrong road at first but managed to get to the road leading to the south of the wood just in time. Saw Graham parked up and spotted the footpath signs. Parked up just as signal came on at 8.15. Confirmed in wood and reasonably close. Walked into the wood but left the footpath too early and wandered around waiting for 8.30. Great area, qualifier standard with all the fallen trees and rhododendrons. Saw other torches around but was lucky to be about 50m from John at 8.30 with a relatively clear access route, and just managed to beat Alan and Bill in.

Thanks to John for running the event.
