Eleven teams assembled at Whiteleaf Cross car park. Unfortunately, only Station B (Brian at Oakley) was heard. There was nothing from Min on Station A near Tring, although the transmitter seemed fine with plenty of RF output. I went over to Tring and phoned Min for a test transmission at 13:50; again, nothing was heard. I then met Min at the site and we changed the transmitter. Min was on the air again at about 14:12. This transmitter failure affected three competitors, which I am sorry for.
The weather during the afternoon was atrocious, especially for the transmitter operators. Geoffrey Foster was the winner.
