I understand the site has been used a few times before but I don't remember it from recent days. Graham worked wonders with his catapult while I made friends with a Melton Mowbary pork pie! I'm helpful like that. Anyway between us we got a half wave length of aerial wire up rather high. Guessing about 60 feet. Graham asurres me no animals were harmed in the course of our DF!
Aerial up and ready to go in good time and pleased to receive confirmation that the signal was heard at the start. It just remained for me to slither onto my ground sheet under some rather nice boonies. In fact it was so comfortable lying on my woodland bed I nearly drifted off and missed one or two transmissions. Fortunately however that pork pie paid off and kept me alert.
The aerial wire was just tied off at one end near the ground, this proved a bit of a magnet for most of our competitors! Graham was surprised no one saw him standing quite close to the tied off end and had a good old chuckle to himself as torches approached flashing in all directions apart from the right one! Eventually everyone got in with Peter getting Gold, Geoffrey Silver and Alan bronze.
Well done one and all. It just remained to meet up at the Royal Oak for the Postmortem!
